🇮🇳 Mission Kaveri: India’s Call for Jet Engine Self-Reliance After Operation Sindoor

Operation Sindoor has once again reminded us of the courage, precision, and preparedness of the Indian Armed Forces. But behind every successful operation lies a stark truth — we still rely heavily on foreign technology for our fighter jets’ most crucial component: the engine.

India’s very own Kaveri engine, developed by the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) under DRDO, has come a long way. Years of research, trials, and innovation have brought it closer to becoming a viable powerplant for India’s future combat aircraft and drones. Yet, due to lack of consistent funding and support, it remains just short of the finish line.

After Operation Sindoor, there is a resurgent national movement gaining momentum — a call to #FundKaveriEngine and make jet engine technology truly indigenous.

Why We Must Act Now
  • 🛡 Strategic Freedom: We cannot afford to depend on foreign suppliers for something as vital as jet engines.

  • 🔬 Homegrown Innovation: Technologies like single-crystal blades, FADEC systems, and blisks are already developed. We just need the final push.

  • ✈️ Future Readiness: The Kaveri engine can power future platforms like the Tejas Mk1A, stealth drones (like Ghatak), and even next-gen fighters.

What We’re Asking For

  • A dedicated national mission: Mission Kaveri, similar in spirit to Chandrayaan or INS Vikrant.

  • Greater public-private partnerships with companies like Godrej Aerospace, L&T, and HAL.

  • Public funding support, including potential crowdfunding initiatives to demonstrate civilian commitment.

The Time is Now

India has proved its mettle in space, maritime, and missile domains. It’s time we mastered the skies too — not just with flying machines, but with the engines that power them.

Let’s demand the momentum and investment Kaveri truly deserves.
